4 out of 5 stars Not as spicy as some say   August 26, 2010

I have tried almost all of Annie Chun's instant soup bowls and I have to say this is one of my favorites. My only note on this soup is that it is not as spicy as some say. I normally cook it according to the directions, but then add some black pepper, cayenne pepper and even a sprinkle of crushed red pepper. When home, I like to chop up a fresh jalapeno and sprinkle it on top. Again, fantastic on it's own, I just like my stuff spicier.

4 out of 5 stars A spicy choice   July 10, 2010
Ethan Logue (OKC, OK United States)
One good thing about Anne Chun's rice/noodle bowls is the lack of too many preservatives and chemicals. As it's prepackaged/dried it does have some processing, but it sure is a much healthier choice than a packet of ramen or can of soup from the store, all of which is usually GMO and loaded with sodium. The Kimchi is a nice change of pace too from typical noodle dishes. It's spicy and the soup mix is tasty and doesn't overwhelm.

I wouldn't want to eat Kimchi every day like they do in some Korean households, but Anne Chun's Kimchi bowls are a nice alternative for a quick lunch instead of burgers and fries. Recommended for those trying to get off overly processed foods and get onto something a little more healthy.

One little piece of advice. The nutritional information on the box suggests supplementing the Kimchi with other fresh cut vegetables. I'd also recommend this suggestion. The Kimchi topping mixture comes with an assortment of seaweed, carrot, and mushroom, but adding a few others like maybe some cucumber or beans would make it even more healthy and tastier.

1 out of 5 stars CARDBOARD ANYONE?   June 23, 2010

Tastes like spicy cardboard. Really overrated product. I will not buy this again period. I don't recommend it.

3 out of 5 stars Just OK   April 28, 2010

Being Korean, I thought I'd try these kimchi bowls in lieu of the traditional ramen's that are loaded w/ preservatives and MSG. These bowls were just OK. They taste more like gochujang (red hot chili paste) more than kimchi, though. It was pretty spicy for me... couldn't finish the broth, but others I shared w/ were fine w/ the spice level.

I may buy these again only as back-up if there's nothing to eat, not b/c it's something that's delicious.

4 out of 5 stars Good soup - Korean Kimchi - Soup Bowl -   March 6, 2010
Margit S. Vonsaalfeld (Florida)
I usually am not big on reviews but I ordered the soup because many people had commented favorably. I like noodles but the pre-prepared types (soups) are too salty and to chemically infused for my taste. Today the package arrived and after trying this soup I have to say "it is pretty good". The packaging is very interesting and seems environmentally friendly. I might try something else from this company.
