Costs DOUBLE of what it does at warehouse stores May 24, 2010 Yashin Ahmed This products costs about $12 plus tax at most warehouse stores. I usually buy this item from BJs or Sams Club stores but wanted to see what the Amazon price would be. Even with the subscribe and save program, it STILL costs $17... This Sale price is a total rip-off !!!!
This Product is NOT ORGANIC!!!!!! May 6, 2010 J. Chaney (Morganton, NC United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just received my order today and what came in was NOT what is shown in this picture!!! It is NOT made with organic soybeans. Yes, I should have read the other reviews. Shame on me. This is the same stuff I can buy at my Walmart but don't want because I WANT my soymilk to be organic. I ordered the vanilla too and it says "certified organic" in the details but it is NOT organic either. Shame on you, Silk!!!!!
Boo.... Hiss...... March 19, 2010 Michael Freeman (Blanchard, OK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Shame on them for going to (supposedly) "Natural" instead of "Organic." I'm done buying Silk.
Silk is NOT ORGANIC February 15, 2010 bookhooker (Alaska) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have wanted to post notices on the shelves of the grocery stores that stock Silk with their organic products. Silk is no longer made with organic soybeans. I think most people just grab it up without realizing that this product has changed. And the price is high to begin with. There are many other organic soymilks available that are cheaper and better quality than this rip off. I feel like they deliberately set out to deceive the consumer.
Boycott Silk! Irresponsible and shady business practices! December 7, 2009 Ms. Cascadia 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I used to be a loyal Silk drinker back when it was actually organic and supported domestic farmers. Since then, the agribusiness giant Dean Foods (which owns over 50 milk labels in the country) bought Silk and began using conventional Chinese soybeans and quietly switching flavors of Silk from "organic" to "natural" without changing UPC codes or telling retailers, according to the Organic Consumers Association.
The Silk portion of the Dean Foods website pays tremendous lip service to socially and environmentally responsible business practices--Dean Foods CLAIMS to use organic domestic soybeans, BUT REFUSES TO DISCLOSE ITS BUSINESS PRACTICES OR TRANSPARENTLY PARTICIPATE IN SOYBEAN SOURCING STUDIES. It throws around the word "sustainable" without giving any proof or transparency to validate claims of sustainability.
If you care in the slightest about supporting businesses that are honest, transparent, and environmentally responsible, DO NOT BUY SILK PRODUCTS.
