3 out of 5 stars THIS IS NOT MAKING FUN!   July 2, 2010

God all these hater comments tick me off!
Stop complaining about "tacky" "raciest" "disgraceful and disrespectful" Your the one being dishonorable spewing hate all over this collectible!

This is everything BUT negative! Just like collectible coins, plates, bubble heads, buttons, signs, figures, etc etc, this is a collectible to show that we love our president and want the world to know it form our windowsill. This sparks conversation on our president and it puts smiles on peoples faces (be it humorous or proud smiles).

The "fro" is not raciest, it's CHIA.. it GROWS like that! The design is not tacky, and the style and color is not disgraceful, that's just how Chia planters are made!

Jesus! You think hating on an American classic is supporting your country? Stop hating on it and be happy we love him enough to make products of him to SUPPORT HIM!

Btw, he said himself HE LIKES THIS PRODUCT! I wouldn't be surprised if he has one!

2 out of 5 stars Effectively funny, Defectively perfect   March 24, 2010

Funny the first 10 times you see it. Not that funny after that. Also it arrived with a chipped ear. What the heck?!

5 out of 5 stars Chia Obama   March 8, 2010

I sent this to an Obama fan as a Christmas Present. He won't admit he made a mistake.

4 out of 5 stars The problem isn't that this is racist   March 8, 2010

The problem is that it might not be racist enough. I mean, this is a high quality product, completely up to the Chia standard. If anything, it might be too well made, as it is clearly the single most sophisticated piece in my extensive collection of Black Americana. This terra cotta Obama bust looks far nicer than any of the assorted lawn jockeys, salt and peppper mammies, or 1930s advertising placards that adorn my breakfast nook.

My problem is that the color of the clay makes him look Native American, while his face bears a closer resemblance to Garry Shandling and his hair looks like it came from that guy who played Welcome Back Kotter. This would be fine if I was into collecting Jewish American Americana, but I'm not.

Now, I can fix the shade with a little shoepolish, but the hair is a bigger problem. I'm no botanist, but maybe if Chia could cultivate a "nappier" sprout, it might solve a lot of these problems. If anyone has a recommendation, maybe I could order some sod or seeds off Amazon and give Obama a little makeover at home.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of money   February 17, 2010

I purchased the Chia Obama as a "gag" Christmas gift for my brother. It was a waste of money. After a few days, a mold started growing on it and the seeds never sprouted and died. He had to throw it away.
